Who is responsible for it

The data controller is Mickael Romaniello EI, trading as France with Mickael, Cannes, France — SIRET 920 966 827 00015, VAT FR23920966827. There is no data protection officer, because there is one person. Write to contact@francewithmickael.com.

What is collected

Only what a lesson needs. There is no account to create and no profile is built.

When you book

  • Your name and email address — to hold the lesson and send you the link
  • The date and time you chose, and your time zone (read from your browser, so times can be shown in it)
  • What you wrote in “what do you want out of it”, if anything — optional
  • Your IP address and browser user-agent, to rate-limit abuse of the form

When you pay

Card details never reach this site. Payment happens on a page hosted by Stripe; what comes back here is a payment reference and whether it succeeded. Nothing else.

Technically

The server logs requests — IP, timestamp, URL, user-agent — for security and diagnosis, for at most 30 days. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. A session cookie is set to protect the booking form against cross-site request forgery.

Why, and on what legal basis

  • To give you the lesson you booked — performance of a contract
  • To take payment and keep the accounting records French law requires — legal obligation
  • To stop the form being abused — legitimate interest

Who else sees it

Three processors, each doing one job:

  • Stripe — payment. Handles your card details; this site never receives them.
  • Google — the calendar entry and the Meet link. Your name and email go on the invitation.
  • The hosting provider — runs the server the site sits on.

Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising. There is no advertising here.

How long it is kept

  • Bookings — for as long as you are a student, and afterwards for the period French law requires accounting records to be retained
  • Abandoned bookings — a booking you started and did not pay for stops holding the hour after 30 minutes, and the record itself is deleted within a day
  • IP and user-agent — 24 hours, for the rate limit, then removed from every booking, paid ones included
  • Server logs — 30 days at most

If the student is under 18

A parent or guardian books and pays, so the details held are theirs and the young person's first name and lesson times. A parent can ask for any of it, or ask for it to be deleted, on the same terms as anyone else below — write from the address the lessons were booked with and it will be dealt with.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, or take it elsewhere. Write to contact@francewithmickael.com and you will get an answer within a month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes the date at the top changes with it. Anything that materially affects people who have already booked will be emailed, not quietly edited.

Mickael, who teaches the lessons

I'm Mickael, a French teacher based in the South of France. I have given private French lessons for more than ten years, to students of every nationality. Lessons are one to one and online, anywhere in the world, from complete beginner (A1) to upper intermediate (B2), in formats of 30, 45 or 60 minutes. An hour costs €60 including VAT; a first lesson is thirty minutes for €20. I teach in French and in English.

Chez Mickael Leçons de français · Ouvert

I teach 7am to 9pm Paris time, seven days a week — 6am to 8pm in London, and early morning to mid-afternoon on the US east coast, so French before work is easy from New York and an evening lesson is not.

Book a lesson

One to one, online. A first lesson is €20 for thirty minutes — short and cheap on purpose, because deciding whether someone suits you should not cost much. Times are shown in your own time zone.

No hour that suits you?

Tell me when you could do it and I will write the moment one opens up — people cancel more often than you would think. Nothing is booked and nothing is charged.
